Awesome christmas gift ideas! photo IMG_0718_zpsdb987cf6.jpg

‘Tis the season of giving! It has come upon us. The rain, the changing of the leaves on the trees, and family portraits for Christmas Cards! What makes a better gift than photos? Seriously, no XBox or IPod will last as long as the memory of photos.  This year, I have ordered up a few gifties for a few of my clients, and I would like to introduce – the NEW METAL Christmas Ornaments! They are seriously AWESOME, and I’m not just saying that – I think that they will be the ornament that will always be wrapped up and put on that special place on the Christmas tree for years to come.

If you are interested in getting one of these puppies – they are $30 and come in a variety of shapes. They are printed on metal, and are just SUPER awesome! Please email me at info@toshalynnphotography.com to order yours! Orders in time for Christmas, must be placed by December 10th!!!

Don’t miss these awesome heirloom items!

5 Fun Holiday Images You Won’t Want to Miss

The holidays are always a great time to pull out the camera and capture some remarkable memories. Here are a few ideas to make these memories extra fun through the lens of your camera.

1.  Use Christmas decorations as props.

2.  Don’t forget the details.  Capture pictures of ornaments and the little things that make your holidays extra special.

3.  Take a before and after shot of “Santa’s pile”.  Before the packages are ripped open and after they are unveiled.

4.  Food. It’s present at every gathering during the holidays, and adds a special touch to the memories. Documenting it comes off as creative!

5.  Make sure all of your traditions are wrapped up in your film (or memory card as well). Everyone has a special take on this time of year so don’t let yours be forgotten.

Ever feel like you’ve missed the shot because of your quick kid or vigorous subject?  Sometimes actually capturing the right moment can seem impossible. This is especially hard when photographing wiggly babies and kids playing sports.  Next time you are trying to get the shot and your subject is a mover or a shaker, try shooting with the burst mode.   In this mode your camera will shoot multiple frames very quickly.  This setting is available on most cameras and smart phones. It can be accessed from the settings option on your camera, or by simply holding down the shutter button of your smart phone for a few seconds. So now you will never miss a fun moment again!

We all have had friends, family, or even ourselves that have lost family members.  As hard as these tragedies can be, having memories of our loved ones to hold onto can be a blessing when times get tough.  Pictures become so valuable and treasured after the loss of a loved one, and while you hear many people share they regret not having taken more pictures, you will never hear anyone say they took too many. In today’s world where cameras are so available and affordable, taking pictures has become easier and easier.  So remember to take your camera out more, always be thinking about what memories can be captured, and have your pictures taken more frequently.  Today’s pictures will become tomorrow’s most prized possessions.
